Procrastination

I feel I have improved on my ability to get my work done in a small fashion. I managed to get the reading and writing part of my homework for combined studies over with very quickly after school was out. This left me all the time I needed to do other things of more interest to me. I am however still procrastinating on getting my organization underway. I have an excuse to hide behind, but I do still need to work on it.

I finished in time!

I feel that I have solidified my standing as a 3.0 in procrastination, as I managed to finish my combined studies essay before the due date (for the most part). There was an aspect of it that I had forgotten and had to correct on the day it was due, but it was otherwise finished.

Work in progress I

I have begun work on a plan to quit procrastination. On everyday that I can, I plan to spend about 30 minutes after classes are over for the day to go over any and all work that is assigned, and in some way work on it.

As for organization, I have purchased the required binders, but moving is taking most of my time up right now.

Skill developement journal entry 1

There are many things that I feel that I should improve about myself to become a better student and all around person. The two that I feel require the most work, and thus the two that I will focus on for this journal, are procrastination and organization.

Procrastination (or lack thereof): Throughout my school career, and indeed out of school, I have held off doing work until the last possible moment. This is largely due to the fact that most teachers in public elementary-high school could care less about the quality of your work. They are just happy when you turn it in, as it proves to them that you were listening, validating their choice in career. Now that I am in college however, I am noticing that this system is not the norm. My teachers are wanting quality work, and I wish to give it to them. So, instead of procrastination I plan to set up a basic schedule for my work. How exactly I will set this up is TBD.

Organization: I have NEVER been an organized person. I feel incredibly uncomfortable in a room where there is not at least some sort of mess. This is largely due to my living arrangements (I live in an apartment that is a little to small for my family), but that is not an excuse for my backpack. I intend to work on this however, by implementing some sort of binder system. I will likely have 1 binder for Comp Sci class, 1 for my combined studies class, and 1 for Coll 100/AoD class.

Rubrics:

Procrastination:

1: Never does work until the last minute. Usually poorly done.
2: Waits until the last couple minutes (day's/hours usually) until the due date. Mediocre work.
3: Does work over a long period of time, but only finishes last minute. Fairly good work.
4: Does most of the work on the date it is assigned, and finishes it early. High quality work.

When I was at Decatur, I was definitely a 2. Now, I would consider myself about a 2.7 or so.

Organization:

1: No idea where anything is, ever.
2: A vague idea where something is, but has to spend a long time looking for it.
3: Fairly good idea where everything is, but has to look for a while to find it.
4: Knows where everything is, all the time.

I have consistently been around a 2 for this. That is if I have not misplaced the 2...
